Twin Lagoon is one of the most majestic spots not only in Coron but in the whole Philippines.

The towering limestone walls paired with the vibrant blue-green water make it an unforgettable place.

In this blog post, we’ll get into everything you need to know about the lagoon…

how to get to the lagoon…

then finish by talking about whether it’s worth going (hint: of course it is!), or if you can skip it and go on other tours instead.

Let’s dive right into it!

What You Need to Know About Coron’s Twin Lagoon

Ever wonder why it’s called Twin Lagoon?

Well, it’s because these are two lagoons adjacent to one another.

They are separated only by a thin limestone wall that you can either climb over (they built wooden stairs pictured above) or swim under (during low tide).

What To Do in Twin Lagoon

The outside lagoon is where the tour boats dock.

Here, you can go kayaking and get up close to the majestic limestone cliffs of Coron.

Note: rent a kayak and snorkel before the tour starts! There are no establishments or rentals on Twin Lagoon (or the rest of Coron Island for that matter). Kayak rental costs around php400 ($8).

There’s also a wooden walkway where you can go to get some pictures.

However, you aren’t allowed to swim here. That activity is reserved for the other lagoon!

On the other side of the thin limestone wall, you’ll find a still and almost eerily quiet lagoon.

You can swim here, but you can easily get spooked here by how wild it feels. It sometimes feels as if some creature is watching you.

Pair that with your guide telling you not to swim far, and you might wanna swim in Kayangan Lake instead (and save Twin Lagoon for appreciating the raw nature of Coron)

Note: like the kayaks, you can also rent snorkels before the tour begins for around php150 ($3).

Why Are There No Establishments in Twin Lagoon?

That’s because Twin Lagoon is found on Coron Island.

And, in case you didn’t know, nobody is allowed to live on Coron Island except the indigenous Tagbanua tribe.

They’re the ones who built the wooden stairway, and they’re the ones who keep Twin Lagoon clean!

It’s a great way to preserve Coron’s natural beauty.

How to Get to Twin Lagoon

People getting ready for a Coron Tour

The only way to get to Twin Lagoon is by booking a Coron Tour, or by hiring a boat and having a private tour.

Twin Lagoon is included in the Ultimate Highlights Tour, Super Ultimate Tour, and Coron Island Tour B.

Note: the tours below are provided by Millenial Tours. However, you’ll find most tour companies in Coron offer almost the same itineraries and prices.

Ultimate Highlights Tour (What I Did)

Price: php1,450/pax

Pick-up Time: 8-9 am

End Time: 5 pm

Spots:

  • Kayangan Lake
  • Twin Lagoon
  • Smith or Dimanglet Beach
  • Skeleton Wreck
  • CYC Beach
  • Malwawey Reef or Las Isla de Coral
  • Coral Garden or Siete Pescados

Notes: A great way to get a taste of all Coron has to offer! Keep in mind though that some spots can be added/removed depending on tides and how many visitors there are – but Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon are always part of it.

Super Ultimate Tour

Price: php1,699/pax (php1,590 if you book here)

Spots:

  • Kayangan Lake
  • Twin Lagoon
  • Barracuda Lake
  • Smith or Dimanglet Beach
  • Skeleton Wreck
  • CYC Beach
  • Coral Garden or Siete Pescados

Notes: The main difference between this and the Ultimate Highlights Tour is the inclusion of Barracuda Lake! Other than that, the spots can also change depending on tides and visitor numbers.

Coron Island Tour B

Price: php950/pax

Pick-up Time: 8-9 am

End Time: 5 pm

Spots:

  • Twin Lagoon
  • Barracuda Lake
  • Smith Beach
  • Skeleton Wreck
  • Malwawey Reef or Coral Garden

Notes: The cheapest tour to join if you want to see Twin Lagoon! This tour notably leaves out Kayangan Lake (which is probably the best swimming spot on Coron Island), but it includes Barracuda Lake to make up for it.

I wouldn’t go on this tour unless I was doing Coron Island Tour A (which includes Kayangan) on another day!

Twin Lagoon vs Kayangan Lake

Kayangan lake in Coron, Palawan

Twin Lagoon is best for kayaking, while Kayangan is better for swimming!

Twin Lagoon feels a lot more “wild” than Kayangan. That’s why when you’re swimming, you’ll sometimes feel like something is watching you from underneath, like a long-lost sea creature ready to devour you.

You won’t feel this in Kayangan!

You can’t Kayak in Kayangan Lake, but its crystal clear waters make it perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Frequently Asked Questions About Twin Lagoon

Do You Need to Book in Advance to Visit Twin Lagoon?

You don’t have to book far in advance to visit Twin Lagoon. You can just ask your accommodation, and they’ll gladly connect you to a local tour operator.

There are also lots of flyers at the airport advertising tours, so getting on a tour is not going to be difficult at all.

However, during peak seasons, you may want to book a few days in advance!

You can do this via booking sites like Klook

Does Twin Lagoon Have an Entrance Fee?

Yes, it’s php200 ($4) per head. If you’re on a private tour, you can pay this to your boatman. But if you’re on a joiners tour, you don’t have to worry about it!

What’s the Best Tour for Twin Lagoon?

The Super Ultimate Tour is the best tour to see Twin Lagoon because it’s the only one that includes all 3 of Coron’s most famous spots (Twin Lagoon, Kayangan Lake, and Barracuda Lake)

If you want to spend more time on each spot, you can opt to take Coron Island Tour A on one day, and Tour B on another.

Or, if you’re looking to save, you can go for the Ultimate Highlights Tour or just the Coron Island Tour B.

What is Twin Lagoon Known For?

Kayaking around the towering limestone walls and enchanting blue-green waters is what Twin Lagoon is known for.

The underwater hole leading to the other lagoon is also something thrill-seekers like to dive into!

Can You Swim in Twin Lagoon?

Yes, you can swim in the inner lagoon. The outer lagoon is reserved for docking and kayaking!

However, your guide may warn you not to swim too far! This is, after all, not the main swimming area on Coron Island (that’s Kayangan Lake)

For non-swimmers, your tour boat will give you a life jacket, so you can enjoy the refreshing waters even if you don’t know how to swim!

Why Is It Called Twin Lagoon?

The name comes from the fact that two lagoons are sitting adjacent to one another, separated only by a thin limestone wall!

Again, you can either climb the stairs to get to the other lagoon, or you can swim underneath the limestone wall!

Conclusion: Is Twin Lagoon Worth a Visit?

In short:

Heck yes!

It’s my favorite spot in the ENTIRE Coron.

I just love how raw this place feels.

In terms of natural beauty, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better place.

So MAKE SURE you include it in your Coron itinerary!
