All About Quinale Beach: 3 Fun Facts for the Curious Traveler
Before we go into the stuff you should know about Quinale Beach…
…here are a few fun facts to munch on!
Quinale Beach Fun Fact #1: It’s Owned by the Government
No, Quinale Beach is not one of those pricey beach clubs that’ll cost you an arm and a leg.
It’s owned by the government of Bohol, which means it’s completely FREE to visit.
No entrance fees, no fences…not even an environmental fee booth! (You’ll pay your environmental fee at the entrance of Anda.)
So if you’re in the area and are on a tight budget, Quinale Beach is the perfect place to spend a few hours (or even the whole day!).
Quinale Beach Fun Fact #2: It’s as Beautiful as Other Famous Beaches in the Philippines
Ever been to Boracay or El Nido?
If you have, you probably remember the long stretch of powdery white sand and turquoise water rolling in gentle waves towards the shore.
Guess what?
Anda’s Quinale Beach rivals these uber-popular tourist spots.
It has soft creamy sand, crystal-clear shallows that go a long way, and a lovely outline of palm and coconut trees you can relax under.
Plus: no crowds!
Unlike Boracay, where almost every inch of the beach is taken by a bunch of humans…
…Quinale Beach is completely quiet.
This is especially true during the off-season. (February-October)
I visited in June of 2024 and enjoyed walking the beautiful seashore with not another person in sight!
Quinale Beach Fun Fact #3: It’s All in the Name
If you’re somebody who’s interested in knowing the history behind names, you’ll love this:
“Quinale Beach” was taken from Anda’s original name “Quinali.”
“Quinali” means “land that moves forward.”
Which makes sense, since Anda’s land mass was formed by the sea waves washing sand and corals to form layers on top of each other.
Something cool to remember as you wade the lovely cool shoreline of the beach!
How to Get to Quinale Beach
Quinale Beach wraps gently around Anda’s main town area.
If you’re already in Anda, then great!
Simply search “Anda Food Court” or “Anda Municipal Plaza” on Google Maps, and you’ll be led straight to the seashore.
Here’s Anda Food Park on Google Maps:
If you’re in Panglao or Tagbilaran, you’ll need to travel to Anda first.
There are several ways to do this:
- Bus. This option is convenient and more affordable than others. All you need to do is take a bus from Dao Bus Terminal in Tagbilaran. The ticket costs around PHP100 for a single seat, and you can jump on a bus at any time of the day. (No need to book in advance!)
- Mini-van. Want to get to your destination quicker? Maybe the mini-van option is a good idea for you. It’s also affordable: a ticket only costs PHP130 for a single seat. The mini-van travels at heart-stopping speeds (not for the faint of heart!), but if you’re short on time, it’s worth it. Instead of 3 hours, you’ll get to Anda in as little as an hour and 45 minutes.
- Motorcycle. From Tagbilaran Port, you can rent a motorcycle for PHP400-600 a day. Fuel is on you. Drive the vehicle yourself all the way to Anda – a memorable, scenic trip, for sure! (This is the option I chose, and it was FUN!)
- Car. If you want to get to Anda slower and more comfortably (or if you have your family and pets around), renting a car is the best option. You can find rental selections just outside Tagbilaran port. For a standard car (sedan), you’ll spend around PHP1,700-2,000 a day.
What to Do in Quinale Beach: 3 Things I Recommend
Quinale Beach is a beautiful place, but it also has a bunch of fun activities up its sleeve.
Here are 3 you won’t regret:
Quinale Beach Fun Activity #1: Eat!
Surprised?
I know, right?
You thought I’d say Swim or Surf or Dive.
But no.
Filipinos love eating by the beach, which is one reason Quinale Beach has a colorful, diverse food court right next to it.
You can find almost anything to eat and drink at the food court.
Pizza. Dimsum. Pad Thai. Chicken in Sambal sauce. Bicol Express. Milo Dinosaur. Fruit shakes. Milk tea. You name it!
And you won’t be squatting next to the seashore as you eat.
The food court has sets of tables and chairs within the circle of food stalls.
But…no flooring!
So you can dig your feet in the powdery white sand as you munch on your steaming delicious meal or snack.
At night, the place lights up with strings of bulbs hanging overhead.
This makes it a perfect romantic getaway (if you’re in Anda for romance.) 💗
Quinale Beach Fun Activity #2: Swim
Ok, this is where it gets predictable.
But really, you can’t visit Quinale Beach without going for a swim.
The waters stay shallow for a long time, so you don’t have to worry about being an expert swimmer.
Simply sit in the cooling turquoise-and-aquamarine waves, let your thoughts go with the sea’s motion, and feel completely happy and at peace.
You’ll feel refreshed and rejuvenated after only a couple of hours there.
Quinale Beach Fun Activity #3: Go for a Run
Stand on Quinale Beach outside the food court, and the soft white sand will seem to go on endlessly in both directions.
Actually, Quinale Beach is about 2 kilometers long.
This makes it a perfect stretch to go running (if you’re the type of person who loves that).
Just imagine: your feet sinking into the powdery whiteness of the sand, the salt wind powering your lungs, the music of the waves the only sound you hear under the endless sky.
This definitely beats running on a treadmill at the gym!
How Much You’ll Spend in Quinale Beach
PHP0.
Quinale Beach is a public beach.
There’s no entrance fee and nobody will approach you asking for any kind of payment.
However, if you love to eat, you can spend all you like at the food court right beside it. 😜
Quinale Beach: Not Your Average Provincial Beach
If you’ve been in the Philippines for long, you’ve probably noticed that there are a lot of “average” beaches out there.
You know, strips of dark brown sand and a few rocks facing a murky sea.
Quinale Beach is not like that.
Not at all!
Instead, it’s a long stretch of unbelievably soft sands touched by pristine crystal-clear waves.
It’s a breathtaking beach that rivals Boracay and El Nido…
…without the noise and bustle of tourists.
If ever you’re in Anda, certainly don’t miss visiting Quinale Beach, swimming in the shallow aquamarine waters with your kids, eating SioMai in the food court, or going for a run under the endless, free dome of the sky.
You’ll 100% regret it if you do. 😁
