If you’re looking for other beaches in Boracay besides White Beach, you may want to check out Bulabog Beach.
Even though it’s only walking distance away, Bulabog Beach has a lot of exciting characteristics that separate it from White Beach.
In this post, I’ll be going over these differences, and then talk about some of the things you can do here, and why you might want to visit.
Let’s get right into it!
Where is Bulabog Beach?
Bulabog Beach is on the opposite side of White Beach. White Beach runs 4km along Boracay’s west coast, while Bulabog runs on the island’s east side.
Getting here from White Beach is super easy. It’s just about a half-kilometer walk away.
You can also ride an electric tricycle here, or use a hop-on hop-off bus pass. Bulabog Beach is often included on tours of the whole island.
What’s the Difference Between Bulabog Beach and White Beach?
The main difference between Bulabog Beach and White Beach is that Bulabog Beach can get VERY windy. This makes it an ideal spot for extreme sports like kite surfing or sailing.
Other than that, it’s pretty similar.
Bulabog Beach is also less crowded, and the beach isn’t as clean as White Beach. It has a long, thick sidewalk that passes along hotels and some stores.
Then there’s also…
Bulabog Beach’s Famous Leaning Coconut Tree
There are coconut trees lining almost the entire beach, but one stands out (or should I say, bends out?).
The famous leaning coconut tree is one of the most photographed spots in the entire Boracay, and it’s easy to see why!
Unlike most trees that stand tall, this one stretches out sideways, far into the beach.
It’s so popular, we had to wait in line to get a photograph with it! We were given priority numbers while another group was busy taking all kinds of pictures with the tree.
What To Do in Bulabog Beach
There are three main activities you can try here:
- Get photos with the famous coconut tree
- Enjoy the wind, or
- Try extreme activities!
I already talked about the famous coconut tree, and enjoying the wind doesn’t need any explanation (just stand there and let the wind blow over you).
So let’s talk about extreme activities!
Kitesurfing in Bulabog Beach, Boracay
Boracay is a place to try new extreme activities, and kitesurfing is definitely one of the best ones!
All along Bulabog beach, you’ll find resorts that offer kitesurfing lessons, or kitesurfing gear if you’re already a pro.
Kitesurfing lessons go for around php8,000 ($160) for three hours of beginner lessons.
If you’re serious about learning this skill, courses go for around php24,000 ($480).
Windsurfing in Bulabog Beach, Boracay
Aside from kitesurfing, you can also try windsurfing at Bulabog Beach!
Windsurfing, also called sailboarding or boardsailing, is a slightly less extreme version of kite surfing where your sail is attached to the surfboard.
You can also get lessons in Bulabog Beach.
A short intro class costs around php2,600 ($52), while a full 7-hour course costs about php11,500 ($230).
Bulabog Beach: White Beach’s Wild Sibling
All in all, there are only a few differences between White Beach and Bulabog Beach.
But while White Beach is clean and leisurely, Bulabog Beach is made for thrill seekers.
That plus the fact that it’s only walking distance away from White Beach makes it well worth the visit!
Even if you aren’t going to do water sports, just enjoying the wind, and maybe getting a few pictures with the coconut tree are already fun.
