  4. Moalboal
  5. Siargao

Here’s how!

🛬 Getting to Coron

From Manila (Plane)

✈️ Flight to Coron | 1 hour | (Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, Air Swift)

🚐 Van to Coron town | 30 minutes | (book online)

Notes:

  • Coron airport is outside Coron town, and it’s quite isolated. There are plenty of vans waiting at the airport to shuttle you to town. If you want to be convenient, you can also book a van to take you directly to your hotel here.

From Manila (Boat)

🛥️ Ferry from North Harbor Pier 4 to Coron | 11 – 13 hours | (2Go)

From Cebu

✈️ Flight to Coron | 1 hour | (Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines)

🚐 Van to Coron town | 30 minutes | (book online)

From Puerto Princessa

🛥️ Ferry from Puerto Princessa to Coron | 5 hours | (2Go)

➡️ Coron to El Nido

By Plane

🚐 Van to Coron airport | 30 minutes | (book online)

✈️ Flight to El Nido | 40 minutes | (Air Swift)

Notes:

  • You can ask your accommodation in Coron to book transport to the airport for you, or you can book yourself online here.
  • Air Swift is the only company with flights between El Nido and Coron. However, they are quite pricey, which is why many travelers look for alternative options.

By Boat

🛥️ Direct ferry from Coron to El Nido | 4 – 5 hours | (book online)

Notes:

  • There are two companies plying this route, Montenegro and Atienza.
  • Montenegro currently leaves every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6 am. While Atienza leaves every Monday and Saturday at 7 am.
  • Unlike most other boats in the Philippines, it’s highly advisable to book this trip ahead. You can see updated schedules and book online here.

By Expedition

⛵ 4-day expedition from Coron to El Nido

Notes:

  • This is a popular tour where you stop by several lesser-known islands between Coron and El Nido.
  • There are several tour companies that provide this expedition. Some of the most popular include Tao Expedition, Buhay Isla, and Big Dream Boatman.

➡️ El Nido to Siquijor

Fast Route

✈️ Direct flight from El Nido to Bohol | 1.5 hours | (Air Swift)

🛺 Tricycle or van to Tagbilaran Pier | 30 minutes

🛥️ Ferry to Siquijor | 2 hours | (book online)

Notes:

  • Direct flights from El Nido to Bohol are expensive, which is why a lot of travelers prefer to travel via Puerto Princessa.
  • There are 2 main companies with fast crafts from Tagbilaran to Siquijor, OceanJet and Apekop. I recommend riding with OceanJet since they dock in Siquijor Port, which is near the main tourist zone in San Juan. Apekop docks in Larena, which is much farther. You can check schedules and book online here.

Cheap Route (via Puerto Princessa and Cebu City)

El Nido to Cebu City:

🚐 Van or bus to Puerto Princessa Airport | 5 – 6 hours | (book online)

✈️ Flight to Cebu City | 1.5 hours | (Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines)

Notes:

  • There are dozens of vans and buses going from El Nido to Puerto Princessa airport. You can check schedules and book online here.

Cebu City to Siquijor

Fastest Route

🚕 Taxi to Pier 1 | 30 – 45 minutes

🛥️ Ferry to Siquijor via Bohol | 4.5 hours | (book online)

Notes:

  • This route is the fastest and most straightforward way to get to Siquijor from Cebu. However, it’s also the most expensive option. You can check the schedule and buy tickets online here, or you can also buy at the port.
  • This route has a short stopover in Tagbilaran, Bohol. It’s about 15-30 minutes.

Direct Ferry

🚕 Taxi to Pier 1 | 30 – 45 minutes

🛥️ Direct ferry to Larena Pier | 10 hours | (book online)

Notes:

  • This is the only direct ferry from Cebu City to Siquijor. It leaves 3x a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. You can find updated schedules and book online here.
  • Larena Port is farther away from San Juan (Siquijor’s tourist zone) than Siquijor Port (which the other travel options dock on). Nonetheless, there are plenty of tricycles or motorcycle taxis outside Larena Pier that will be happy to take you there.

Direct Bus

🚕 Taxi to South Bus Terminal | 30 – 45 minutes

🚌 Direct bus from South Bus Terminal, Cebu to Siquijor | 7 – 8 hours

Notes:

  • The bus drives to Liloan Port, gets on the boat, and continues its journey around Siquijor. You can stay inside the bus while it’s on the boat, or you can get out.
  • You still have to pay the boat fare. In total, you’ll spend about php650 (roughly 400 for the bus, and 250 for the boat)
  • When the boat docks, the bus will loop around Siquijor Island. So if you’re staying in San Juan (Siquijor’s main tourist zone), just tell the conductor to drop you there.
  • This is a fairly new route by Ceres Bus Liner, and it currently leaves every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 pm, and 1 am on Sundays. You can check their Facebook Page for any updates.

Alternative Route

🚕 Taxi to South Bus Terminal | 30 – 45 minutes

🚌 Direct bus to Dumaguete City | 5 – 6 hours

🛥️ Ferry to Siquijor | 40 minutes | (book online)

Notes:

  • This is probably the worst route to Siquijor. However, because the other routes are either slightly expensive or not available every day, many travelers still do this route.
  • Buses to Dumaguete City leave South Bus Terminal in Cebu every hour starting at 6 am. Like the direct bus to Siquijor, you still have to pay your boat fare.
  • From Dumaguete Pier, there are about 6-7 different ferries to take you to Siquijor. The Fast Crafts are owned by OceanJet, and they leave twice a day. Click here to see schedules and book online. The slow boats can only be booked at the pier.

➡️ Siquijor to Moalboal (Cebu)

Simple Route

🛥️ Ferry from Larena Port to Bato Port | 3 hours

🚌 Bus to Cebu City (stop in Moalboal) | 1.5 hours

Notes:

  • This route might seem simpler, but the ferry from Larena Port to Bato takes 3 hours, which is longer than taking a ferry to Dumaguete, bus to Tampi, and ferry to Bato (see below).
  • Larena Port is NOT the same as Siquijor Port. It’s farther away from the main tourist zone of Siquijor (San Juan)
  • The boat on this route is run by Maayo Shipping, and it currently leaves every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1 pm, and 3 pm on Sundays. Check their Facebook Page for updated schedules.

Alternative Route

🛥️ Ferry from Siquijor Port to Dumaguete City | 40 minutes | (book online)

🚌 Bus to Tampi Port | 40 minutes

🛥️ Ferry to Bato Port | 30 minutes

🚌 Bus to Cebu City (stop in Moalboal) | 1.5 hours

Notes:

  • There are a lot of fast and slow boats from Siquijor to Dumaguete city. The most popular for tourists is OceanJet. You can check their schedule and book online here.
  • From Dumaguete City, you can also take a bus or tricycle to Sibulan Port, get on a ferry to Liloan Port in Cebu, ride a bus to the Bato terminal, and get on a bus bound for Cebu via Barili. It sounds complicated, but there are so many buses on this route, that it’s actually quite simple.
  • Ferries from Tampi Port leave roughly every 1.5 hrs. Their schedule alternates with the Sibulan Port, so there’s a ferry leaving Negros island for Cebu almost every 45 minutes. Both of these ferries take roughly 30 – 45 minutes
  • When in Bato, make sure you’re taking the Bus to Cebu via Barili (aka, the bus that travels past Moalboal).
